Dillsburg

Dillsburg is a borough located in northwestern York County, Pennsylvania and 15 miles west of the capital, Harrisburg. The town is named for Matthew Dill, an immigrant from County Monaghan, Ireland, who settled the town in 1740. The village became a center for local agriculture.

Dillsburg is located at the convergence of Routes 15 and 74 in South-central Pennsylvania.  This rural-flavored town is located on main highways with access to several metropolitan destination.  This makes the community a focal point for area agriculture products being moved to market.  Dillsburg is a growing community, currently beginning a downtown revitalization and historic designation program.

Dillsburg unites the surrounding region with its community activities such as the annual Farmers’ Fair, Pickle Fest and the now famous, New Year’s Eve Pickle Drop. Dillsburg’s Farmers’ Fair celebration is held annually during the third weekend in October. Among the many attractions are the Halloween parades on Friday and Saturday evenings, the classic car and farm tractor parade Saturday afternoon, and civil war re-enactments at the near-by Dill Tavern. A wide variety of food can be found, from common consessions to specialty theme items such as fried pickles and pickle soup.
